Four Favourites

I may have mentioned - you know once or twice in passing- that I am off to uni for the first time this weekend, and that as a result my life has been more or less packing for the last few days. As a result todays four favourites has a slightly different theme. As well as celebrating the little things in life that make me smile I have decided to focus on those home comforts I will miss when I am away. And so without further ado take a gander around my house  and let me know what you love about your home.

Tomato soup - yes I can have this at uni but it will always taste best at home.

The View from my bedroom window

Long, hot and bubbly baths - I bought this Lush bath bomb for my final relaxing soak.

My mums teddy bear biscuit tins which have been in my kitchen since before I was born!

Wreck This Journal #4

Today for the first time in a couple of weeks I have had some time to myself. Yes my to-do list is as long as my arm yes I am off to University in 6 days and yes there are jobs I could be doing. HOWEVER today I decided to spend some time doing things for me. So, after a few extra hours in bed and some netflix I opened up my Wreck this journal and below are some of the results intermingled with some old pages I haven't yet shown you.

What I've been reading.

It's been a while since I blogged about some of my faviourtes in the blogging sphere, which is a shame as it is these ladies which inspire me to create this space of the internet for myself. So I thought I would make the most of my time without a laptop ( please fix my baby apple!) to celebrate a few of my top reads at the moment.

Tiny Paint Pot

I love love love this blog. Sam seems to have so many of the same interests as myself, yoga check, drawing check, make up check! And she has the perfect writing style and photographs making this blog a must read! She also manages to update super regularly too. So go on over and pay her a visit.

Wish wish wish.

If you like fashion, cute hairstyles or burgers then this blog is definitely for you. This is one of the blogs I turn to when I am having a bad hair day or looking for inspiration for a new outfit. Needless to say I'm on it a lot to steal Carries style. Her post here is also very refreshing so take a look if you are feeling a little blue.

What Naomi wrote.

Naomi is another blogger that manages to regularly keep you up to date with her activities. Her photography is beautiful and I love knowing what she's been up to. Keep her eye out for her recipes too. They are well worth having a go at.

The life and loves of ninegrandstudent

As you may know I am about to start uni in September making this final blog my saviour at the moment. It has everything from cheap recipes to packing lists making it the perfect stop for any fresher or for any student needing a bit of advice. Go check it out now!

What have you been reading lately. Let me know in the comments below.

I apologise for the quality of these images, I am currently relying on my ipad for posts so this quality is all I have!

Wreck this journal #3

One of the beauties of the wreck this journal is that it is constantly evolving. The more you put in it the more it grows. Under this sentiment it is perhaps not surprising that some of my favourite pages are not yet finished articles, still waiting for me to add to them.

What I've been reading...

I blogged here about some of my favourite bloggers at the moment but felt I should take a minute to acknowledge some of my other favourites who inspire my little space of the internet. Some of these lovelies have hundreds of followers while others may only have a few (at the moment) but they are all definitely worth taking a look at if you haven't before, so without further ado...

First up is Olivia from what Olivia did. You may well have already looked at this blog but this girl with her 60s style outfits and beautiful photography of everything from baking to cityscapes first introduced me to the blogging world and, as a result inspired me to start my own - OK I'm getting a little fan girl here, but her blog is definitely worth checking out!

Next up is a slightly different kind of blog. Emma Block is one of my favourite illustrators, her blog is filled with her own work as well as posts on other artists, trips out and about and of course gorgeous photographs. Best of all she has been developing this blog since she was 16 meaning there is plenty of archived posts for you to have a gander at.

Another blog I regularly check out is far newer. Emma over at Reverie lane only started blogging in April of this year, not that you'd guess it by the standard of her posts! Her blog is the perfect mix of pastels and pretty things while her simple things posts are bound to cheer you up.

Finally if you are looking for a blog to cheer you up in this wet rainy weather Sally at sallytangle is always worth visiting. Her wonderful Wednesdays are the perfect midweek pick me up. Not to mention  her flower photographs!

So theres my a couple of my goto blogs. What blogs do you enjoy reading? I would love to hear about your favourites, or even your own! Leave a comment below.

I loved this May...

1.Judith Kerr's creatures, 2. Twinnings cranberry and blood orange tea, 3. frozen soundtrack
4. bikini tini creaseless benefit eyeshadow, 5. toffee eclairs, 6. How to talk to children about art,
7. DKNY be delicious perfume, 8. Tangleteezer hairbrush.

It's been a strange month of May one way or another, the weather hasn't been able to make up its mind (OK I know I sound incredibly British) and I seem to have spent much of my time travelling between various different jobs. Despite this I have had some time to do some well needed reading, as well of course drinking this perfect tea. Judith Kerr's book is beautiful especially if you're looking for some inspiration and her story is certainly inspiring to read while Francoise Barbe-Gall's book is incredibly interesting both for those with children and, like me, those who simply want to learn a bit more about those pieces you see around you but never really look at properly.

Apart from reading I have also discovered a couple of beauty products which I'm sure will be around in my life long after this month is over. Benefits creaseless cream eyeshadow is brilliant for early morning sweeps of colour, it's easy to apply and instantly brightens up your face. As well as this I have been sporting DKNY be delicious perfume, ideal for summer and so good its persuaded me to move away from my traditional scent! These beauties as well as my new Tangleteezer hairbrush make my mornings incredibly easier despite the rubbish weather - last time I mention it promise!

Finally no roundup of this month would be complete without mentioning my two go to items when travelling - caramel eclairs and the frozen soundtrack - who doesn't wanna build a snowman?

Mud, animals and a county show.

Yesterday despite the miserable weather - sorry to be all British and everything - I visited the Devon county show with the mum and sister. It was a somewhat muddy affair and my yellow wellingtons did loose their shine within about 2 minutes of stepping through the gates but the animals and stalls more than made up for it.

Unfortunately however the shows third day had to be cancelled due to extreme weather - you should have seen the car parks! So a number of others whom I know were looking forward to attending were unable to. It really is a shame for what is usually such a highlight of the County calendar!

Wreck this Journal #2

I have had a really positive response to my recent wreck this journal blog post and the kind comments you have all left me have encouraged me to post further pictures of my book. Some of these are more recent pieces of work and others are older work I did not feature in my previous post. I hope they provide you with some inspiration.

This page used a couple of old scraps of paper I had, I think they clash nicely with the darkness of the opposite page.

This page is more of a work in progress than finished article and admittedly some of the stickers are from veg not fruit! I hope to collect many more yet.

This page is perhaps one of my favourites in the book, I drew the American flag design first and stuck and cut the strips later on.

On this final photo I have written one of my favourite quotes, something that really is important to remember and opposite, alongside my spilt coffee I have written an Ed Sheeran lyric that seemed to fit perfectly.

What do you think? Unfortunately the pictures are not perfect quality (blame the gorgeous weather) but I hope you enjoyed seeing them. I'd love to hear your comments.

I took GCSE German but I’m pretty rusty now! I also know a TINY bit of French

Did your family travel a lot when you were younger or was it something you developed a love for later?
My family only ever travelled to France and I have never been further than that. However I have a list of places I dream of visiting so I guess I have fallen in love with it in theory even if I haven’t done it yet!

Are you more of an adventurous traveler or a keep it on the safe side traveler?
As I said above I have never travelled far before so I guess I’m a “keep it on the safe side” traveller!

I do have a bucket list and will be fulfilling at least one this year by going to Uni in September!

I haven’t got any foreign trips planned but I am off to London in 2 weeks.

A scarf every time

I like so many but I think at the moment it has to be Zadie Smith.

Visit to Coleton Fishacre

When the opportunity arises and my weekends are not filled with work, jobs or other commitments one of my favourite activities has got to be exploring a new National Trust property. I like to think its my interest in history that draws me to these places - or perhaps its just inherent nosiness on my part but something about the beautiful buildings, stunning decor and often quite fabulous stories keeps me coming back. So it was with great excitement that I accompanied my family on a trip to Coleton Fishacre at the weekend.

With its fabulous art deco and arts and crafts interiors and stunning views of the sea, both within and outside the property, it is perhaps one of my favourite houses to date. The hall carpets had me at hello and I admit I did find myself gazing wistfully out of the window, Mrs Dewinter style, in the library - that is until I was gently but firmly ushered along by the rest of my group. Despite the old light and lack of flash - gotta protect those old interiors - I did manage to snap a couple of images for you all to see and if you want to learn more, the national trust website as always is a mine of information.

Wreck This Journal #1

I've had my copy of wreck this journal for some time and have - somewhat sporadically - started to fill it up with a number of experiments and bits and bobs. Unfortunately I haven't added to it for some time and it has sat, alone on my bookshelf, gaining dust.

However today I stumbled across not one, but two of my favourite bloggers talking about their own experiences with this book -  you can check them out at vivatramp and tiny paint pot - which have inspired me to crack this book out again.

So first up heres a couple of photos to show you my progress so far, all these pages are old ones but hopefully soon I will be able to update with some pieces of my more recent creations!

This was a really fun page to complete, drawing the numbers on top of one another was quite a new way of working for me.

Although this looks like a shoe print I actually drew this from the bottom of my dads boot - I couldn't quite face putting dirty shoe prints in my journal just yet!

I'm really pleased with the effect of this page, its quite quirky an again was a lot of fun to complete!

Have you got a wreck this journal I'd love to see what you do for more inspiration? Please let me know what you think of mine too!
